After a solid year of work with Ethervision and iDev2, RC Heli 2 took the
best parts of our first RC Heli and RC Plane games and redesigned everything
else. The whole game was rebuilt on a new engine, with a more realistic
physics simulation: harder at first, but far more satisfying once mastered.
The game comes with two 3-channel helis and one 4-channel heli, Free Flight
in a newly designed three-floor house and seven races. A combat mode, seven
more helicopters and two RC UFOs, one of them running on "alien physics",
are available as in-app purchases.
Features
- New physics simulation
- One universal app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad
- 4 control modes, with realistic mapping
- Touch or accelerometer controls
- HD graphics, with optimisations for the iPhone 4 Retina display and the
iPad 2 (4x antialiasing and two real-time lights per pixel at a constant
30 fps)
- Free Flight and Race modes
- Combat mode in-app, with its own game mode and two combat helis
- Lots of helis to fly and unlock
Updates
RC Heli 2 was built with expansion in mind, and it kept growing after launch:
- Better controls: larger touch areas with a margin at the screen edges,
and adjustable sensitivity for each axis of each stick, saved separately
for every heli. All helis also got more stable and realistic physics.
- Multiplayer and new places to fly: a Christmas update brought
multiplayer, new environments such as the Gym and the Warehouse, and new
helicopters including the 3-channel Shark and the Russian Hind.
- Retina and rotation: a later update added Retina support, screen
rotation and iOS 6 support.
RC Heli 2 shares its base engine with RC Plane 2, which let us reuse the menu
system, saving, in-app purchases and leaderboards and spend more time on
graphics, physics and gameplay.
